RefineIQ
Sound human

How to stop sounding like AI, and fix it in one pass.

People can tell when writing came out of a chatbot, and they tune it out. If everyone writes with AI, the edge is sounding like you didn't. Here are the tells that give it away, and how RefineIQ rewrites a draft in place so it reads like a person wrote it.

The tells that give AI writing away

  • Dead openers. “I hope this email finds you well.” “I noticed your company is doing great things.”
  • Filler framing. “In today's fast-paced world” and “now more than ever”.
  • Tell-tale words. delve, leverage, tapestry, seamless, robust, elevate, unlock.
  • Vague value. Claims so general they could describe any company or any candidate.
  • Punctuation habits. A pile of em dashes doing the work a plain sentence should do.

Why swapping words isn't enough

Deleting em dashes or trading “delve” for “explore” leaves the same hollow rhythm underneath. A rewrite that works says a specific thing in your voice. That is what CEO Mode does: it cuts the slop and keeps the one real point, instead of patching one tell at a time. See it in the before / after examples.

Fix it where you write

RefineIQ lives in the text box. Select your draft in Gmail, Slack, Reddit, LinkedIn, or a job form and press Alt+Shift+R, or click the Refine pill. Your text is sent over HTTPS, rewritten, and dropped, never stored, never logged, never trained on. This is a humanizer for your real writing, not a detector-beater: it never adds fake typos and never invents a detail you didn't say.

FAQ

What makes writing sound like AI?

A handful of repeat tells: openers like 'I hope this email finds you well', filler such as 'in today's fast-paced world', overused words like 'delve', 'leverage', 'tapestry', symmetrical three-part sentences, and value claims so vague they could describe anyone. Readers register the pattern even when they can't name it.

Is removing em dashes enough?

No. Swapping punctuation or synonyms doesn't fix the underlying rhythm and the empty phrasing. RefineIQ rewrites the sentence so it says a specific thing in your voice, instead of find-and-replacing one tell at a time.

Is this about beating AI detectors?

No. RefineIQ never adds fake typos or scrambles text to fool a detector. The goal is writing that reads like you so it gets noticed and gets a reply, not writing that games a plagiarism check.

How does RefineIQ fix it?

Select your draft in any text box and press Alt+Shift+R. CEO Mode cuts the slop and the padding and leaves a draft that reads like a person wrote it; Clean up is a lighter grammar and filler pass. It preserves your intent and never invents a detail.
